About the Founder
Nija Bastfield, Esq. is a dedicated and accomplished attorney admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in January 2024. A 2023 graduate of The University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, she earned her Juris Doctor cum laude, receiving numerous accolades including the Judge Pryor Award, the Mark Herzog Public Interest Scholarship, and the 2022 DC Bar Moot Court Competition victory. During law school, Nija served as President of the Student Bar Association and contributed as a Teaching Assistant and Legal Writing Mentor.
Her legal experience includes clerking for judges in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where she conducted legal research and drafted orders in criminal and juvenile cases. She also gained valuable trial experience as a Summer Law Fellow with the New York County District Attorney's Office and previously supported complex criminal and civil cases at the Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.
In addition to her legal practice, Nija is the owner of Bastfield Consulting, where she provides independent consulting services to law schools, students, and faculty members.
